Thanksgiving

Well... to start, I went to Grammy's house that week. I went Wednesday and made zucchini bread while mom cooked other stuff and Aunt Cri prepared the pies. After mom left, after we watched Rio from redbox, Aunt Jen came over. She brought a lemon cranberry cake shaped like trees. It was kinda funny when Cri asked Jen(her twin who's actually taller than her) why she bought it when we had lots of sugary treats already. Both me and Aunt Jen said "It looked pretty" at the same time. then we watched X-Men first class, which was a bit disappointing with how they sequenced the events and such, but great visually and story wise... mostly. Thursday, I woke up on the couch, where I had chosen to sleep since all the beds were taken, and then helped(sorta) with the last minute preparations. We; Cri, Jen, and I, had a blast decorating the tables. I almost wish I had a pic to show you, it was such a pretty sight. Then Friday we who had stayed at Grammy's house had cake for breakfast, then hung up Christmas decorations. Before we had really started, Aunt Jen had to go back to Uncle M, but she made an ivy garland for Grammy's rafters before she left. I made another and the third was used to make a huge wreath for the chimney. The Chinese couple that my Grandmother has taken under her wing came and helped us finish off the zucchini bread, which was awesome by the way, as well as put the ornaments on the tree. It was fun to see them smiling and dong something new. Grammy's tree might possibly be the best part of her decorations for the love and joy it holds. The names of my family, even those no longer among us, hang on those branches and smiles and laughter have been captured by the hand-made home-made ornaments that grace the fake boughs. Standing five foot something and shining brightly with multicolored lights and holding aloft a graceful angle, the Christmas tree is a source of mysterious warmth and quiet joy. Let nothing tarnish this vision of the Christmas tree, this vision of remeberance of all the the Lord has given us, for this is how I wish to see that symbol of the season.

Enough of my rambling I think. Hope that all who read to the very end have a very merry Christmas this year.

Lil Bit
